SHORT FILM RESEARCH: The Guilt

For short film research i decided to watch the short film, The Guilt by David Victori. I looked for similarities between the action genre and this film. These are some of the similarities i found

Common Sound: The film similarly uses non-diegetic sound to use intense music in tense parts of the film. The film also uses background music to express emotion in the film. The film also uses sound effects which could be used in action films as well.

Common Mis-En-Scene: The film uses similar costume to the action genre with a messy, dirty, costumes. The film also uses similar lighting to show the sweat on characters which brings out the intensity. The film also uses prop weapons which is something that would be used in a action film.

Common Editing: Common editing between the film and the action genre is the use of lots of jump cuts and the use of blur in some scenes.

I like how the action genre mainly appeals to bringing out intensity in film which isn't the hardest thing to do. Filming the action genre also sounds really fun to do. I think filming an action film may be one of the best genres to film if i want to become more experienced in producing media.

Some issues with the action genre is that it seems high maintenance to film. It seems like you need a lot of time and props to be able to film. Another issue is that action film is very reliant on editing and a good editing software is hard to come by

I learned from this video that planning is one of, if not the, most crucial of all steps in the short film making process. Production Blog: Editing Again

 Yesterday, I didn’t complete editing my entire short film. So today, I resumed editing. I got on my computer and started up my editing software. The editing software I use is on CapCut. I went over all the editing I did yesterday. This way I could see where I left off and what needed to be done. I made a mental list of what needed to be done at the end of the day. Today was pretty much the last day of editing so I had to make sure everything was done. After all of that I began editing. I pretty much just did what I did yesterday but on different clips. I started with adjusting the clips to the correct length. This made sure there was no background noise or talking. This also made sure there was no awkward silences. I then added music. This really brought the short film together. After that, I added some text to the clips. I watched it all together to make sure it was correct. After that, I put on some finishing touches.  Hello , My name is Luke Hamill and I am a sixteen year old boy. I was born on October 30th 2005. I  play sports such as football and basketball and my favorite subject in school is History. I play tight end and defensive end on the varsity football team at my school. I love film and music, especially 90s-early 2000s alternative music.
