Production Blog: Editing

Today, I began editing my short film. I had plans for yesterday to edit but those plans were canceled. This means I had a larger work load today. I had more to edit today since I didn't edit yesterday. This wasn't a problem though because I was excited to finish editing. I was so excited to finish because I wanted to see what the final product of the short film looked like. I didn't have much to do and I was sure I would be able to fit it into two days. Today, I edited around half of the short film. I did all of Act I and about half of Act II. I began by putting the clips in order from beginning to end. I did this by dragging the one that came directly after a clip exactly to the right of that clip. I watched it through to make sure it was in the correct order. Next, I trimmed the clips to my liking. I made sure there wasn't any excess footage where someone was talking or there was background noise. Also, I had to make sure there was no awkward silences. I did the trimming part for about half the video. Then, I added text to the bottom to create my title sequence. I had to make sure I did everything correct. I was worried it would be too much but it turned out it wasn't. Overall today was a very successful day.

Comparing 9, The Short, and 9, The Full-Length Movie.

  Short film 9 begins with a very dark and ominous setting. We noticed quickly that the genre was very similar to the action genre and contained a lot of its aspects. The entire film was an action / thriller. There were multiple jump scares and fight scenes . There was lots of dark imagery as well as lots of C GI like a typical action movie. The plot of the film was short obviously, due to it being a s hort film the viewer is thrown into the beginning to the middle of a longer story . It follows the character 9 as he seeks vengeance for his friends and defeats the monster who once killed his old friends. There is truly little character development, but an example is in the beginning the character 9 was scared but now he is brave .  Sound effects are a big part of the short film as there is no dialogue, however there are many unique sound e ffects and loud crashes which are conventional in the action genre . Planning Blog Props: My group and I are creating a Gatorade commercial which is why our main prop will be Gatorade. We will also be using other props like a football. In our commercial we will most likely be using one or two of our group mates as actors.  Costumes: Our actors will be wearing athletic clothes such as athletic shoes or cleats. They would also most likely wear some kind of athletic shirt or sports uniform as well as athletic pants. We might have our actors wear other types of sports apparels such as headbands or towels.  Schedule:  -On 9/23/21 our group will research and begin to plan for our commercial as well as establish a back up plan  -On 9/27/21 our group will begin to settle on a final idea and begin to settle on location, costume, and props to use  -On 9/29/21 our group will create the storyboard for our commercial  -On 10/1/21 through 10/5/21 we will be filming our commercial and getting the necessary shots  -On 10/7/21 through 10/11/21 we will edit and finalize
