Production Blog: Peer Review

After yesterday, my short film was all finished. I thought it was good and I was very satisfied. However, I needed to make sure it was as good as I thought. I started thinking how I could make sure it was good. I came up with the idea to ask a peer for review. I knew this peer had to be unbiased and truthful. So I asked an acquaintance who would have no reason to lie. I asked the peer and they ended up saying yes. I sent them over the film and asked them what they thought. It took them a couple days but they ended up responding. The information they responded with ended up being very valuable. They sent over some criticism and things they liked about the film. I looked through the message and carefully examined what they criticized. Luckily, all the criticism ended up being things I could fix through editing and I didn’t have to re-shoot. They had a lot of positive things to say about the film as well. This means the film was as good as I thought. I decided to fix all negative things the next day. I kept the message so I would remember what to fix. This was a very good idea and will really benefit my short film. Very glad this idea came to me.
