Production Blog: Finishing Touches


Today was the final day of production for my short film. Finally it was done! I was super excited to see my final short film in all its glory. All I needed was a few tweaks. Considering this, todays production wouldn’t take much time. After the peer review, I knew exactly what I needed to do today. Just a few touches that could be fixed through editing. I was lucky this was it so I didn’t have to get my group mates together and re-shoot everything. I started up my computer and opened up CapCut for the last time. I opened my movie and got to work. What I first started was improving the audio for some scenes. Some scenes audio was too quiet and you couldn’t hear dialogue. I fixed this by turning the volume up for this specific clip. I did this for around 3 clips. The next thing I did was fix brightness. It was the same concept as the audio but for brightness. All I needed to do was move the slider. Next, I changed the font for text. Before the font was a little corny but now it looked more professional. I’m so happy production is finally over and I’m so proud of my short film.

Production Blog: Editing Again

 Yesterday, I didn’t complete editing my entire short film. So today, I resumed editing. I got on my computer and started up my editing software. The editing software I use is on CapCut. I went over all the editing I did yesterday. This way I could see where I left off and what needed to be done. I made a mental list of what needed to be done at the end of the day. Today was pretty much the last day of editing so I had to make sure everything was done. After all of that I began editing. I pretty much just did what I did yesterday but on different clips. I started with adjusting the clips to the correct length. This made sure there was no background noise or talking. This also made sure there was no awkward silences. I then added music. Production Blog: Peer Review

 After yesterday, my short film was all finished. I thought it was good and I was very satisfied. However, I needed to make sure it was as good as I thought. I started thinking how I could make sure it was good. I came up with the idea to ask a peer for review. I knew this peer had to be unbiased and truthful. So I asked an acquaintance who would have no reason to lie. I asked the peer and they ended up saying yes. I sent them over the film and asked them what they thought. It took them a couple days but they ended up responding. The information they responded with ended up being very valuable. They sent over some criticism and things they liked about the film. I looked through the message and carefully examined what they criticized. Luckily, all the criticism ended up being things I could fix through editing and I didn’t have to re-shoot.
